It only took 3 days for the Garlic to sprout…

Helotes Garlic Sprouting 10 21 2013I was so excited to see the little green tips of the Spanish Rojo Garlic reaching for the morning sun.  On Day 3, about 80% of the Garlic broke through the soil and stretched.

Garlic is so easy to grow and there really isn’t too much to do.

With our Square Foot Garden soil mixture with plenty of compost and adding the worm castings, they will have plenty of nutrition through the winter.

IMG_2727On Day 5, I filmed the sprouting Garlic so you could really see them sprouting.

You will want to keep them watered, not too soggy, but don’t let the soil dry out.  We just had a great rain, getting about an 1″.  And more is forecasted for next week.

Garlic just like all vegetables, love rain and get all kinds of great things from Mother Nature.

The temperatures are starting to drop, but don’t worry the Garlic will continue to grow under the soil all winter.  The tops will remain green and grow too.

Here is a short video clip showing the Spanish Rojo Garlic Sprouting.

Let’s see how much the Garlic grows next month,
