Time goes by so quickly when you are having fun gardening….
Do you believe we’ve been together for 20 weeks so far? We’ve gone from seeds to caring for our tomatoes, and now we are reaping the harvest from all of our hard work!
I can’t believe how much fun we have had in our new house with all the sunshine and to have beautiful gardens. This year we are enjoying delicious Gypsy Tomatoes. We’re eating fresh tomatoes with every meal and not getting enough! I am preparing different recipes with each of the varieties of tomatoes and we’re loving the tomato season.
This week I am harvesting some Gypsy Tomatoes and I have the perfect recipe. Just click on the recipe title hyperlink and the link will take you to the recipe!
There is still (enjoyable) work to be done
You still need to be feeding your tomatoes with Worm Casting Tea, and removing any diseased leaves. At this point I go ahead and let any sucker branches grow from higher up branches, letting the tomato plant bush out a little. I still keep the underneath clear and cleaned out.
Make sure you stake up your tomato plants as they grow tall, so they just don’t fall over and get in a mess. Keep your tomato garden clean and tidy and your tomato plants will continue to grow.
Your continued harvest will depend on whether your tomato varieties are determinate or indeterminate. Determinate varieties bears the full crop all at once. Indeterminate develop into vines and never top off and continue to produce until frost kills them.
I hope you enjoy this week’s video…
Here’s an update of the tomatoes….I’m showing tomatoes that I have not harvested yet, that are still growing and ripening…check out my new tomatoes, Chocolate Stripe Tomatoes.
Next week I will be harvesting the Celebrity Tomatoes with a simple recipe.
